India’s senior citizen population is on the rise. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has pledged in its manifesto for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections to extend the Ayushman Bharat scheme to include all individuals from the transgender community and senior citizens aged 70 and above. This is not linked to any income sealing.

In a society that values compassion, offering free medical care to individuals above 70 is not just a policy, it’s an expression of our collective gratitude for their lifelong contributions.Providing free medical care for those over 70 isn’t just about economics; it’s about honoring the wisdom and experience they bring to our communities by ensuring their health needs are met without financial burden.Beyond the economic benefits, providing free medical services for those over 70 fosters a culture of inclusivity and compassion, where everyone, regardless of age, is valued and supported in maintaining their health and well-being.
While the election manifestos are hardly read by Indian Voters, the promises of this kind are really welcome and seeing the track record of BJP are likely to be implemented!
