On a rainy yet auspicious day of service to mankind, Swami Vivekanand Charitable Hospital, Dharmawala, Dehradun, with the divine blessings of Baba Shri Kedarnath and Prabhu Shri Ram, inaugurated its new Cath Lab on 31st August 2025.
The moment marks a significant milestone in the hospital’s mission of delivering high-quality healthcare to all, especially to the underserved sections of society.
A Vision Inspired by Swami Vivekanand
Swami Vivekanand Health Mission Society was founded in 2012 by a group of young doctors and philanthropists inspired by the ideals of Swami Vivekanand. Guided by its vision of selfless service, the Society has established charitable hospitals across remote, underserved, and hilly regions of Uttarakhand, including at the sacred Char Dhams.
- 14 charitable hospitals are currently run by the Society:
- 11 in Uttarakhand
- 2 in Uttar Pradesh
- 1 in Delhi
Beyond hospitals, the Society conducts community medical camps, education initiatives, Swavalamban Abhiyaan, and community health programmes—ensuring healthcare reaches even the most inaccessible regions.
The Journey of Dharmawala Hospital
From its humble beginnings as a one-room clinic, the Dharmawala hospital has grown into a multi-specialty institution. Over the years, it has become a beacon of healing and hope for lakhs of patients, providing compassionate care without financial considerations.
- Since 2012, the Society has served more than 26 lakh beneficiaries.
- The hospital continues to expand its services with unwavering dedication and the support of well-wishers, patrons, and the community.
A Milestone: The New Cath Lab
The inauguration of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab) fulfills a long-cherished dream of providing advanced diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
This achievement was made possible through the support of:
- Rotary Club Ananta, Delhi
- CSR contributions from reputed partners
- Strong financial and moral backing, achieved in a remarkably short span of time at highly economical terms.
The new facility represents the hospital’s commitment to bringing world-class medical care within reach of the common man.
The Driving Force: Dr. Anuj Singhal
At the heart of this journey has been Dr. Anuj Singhal, whose selfless dedication has shaped the hospital since its inception in 2012.
- A hands-on doctor and tireless administrator, he has consistently added new services and facilities to the hospital.
- He has brought in top doctors and specialists to serve at Dharmawala and other remote hospitals in Uttarakhand.
- His guiding principle has always been “Service to the Poor”, keeping the hospital true to its mission of healthcare without barriers.
Inauguration by the Health Minister of Uttarakhand
The Cath Lab was inaugurated by Shri Dhan Singh Rawat, Health Minister of Uttarakhand, who praised the Society’s relentless efforts in expanding healthcare access across the state.
Continuing the Mission of Service
The establishment of the Cath Lab is not just a medical achievement but a reaffirmation of the hospital’s mission—
“To serve humanity with compassion, dignity, and dedication.”
With every milestone, Swami Vivekanand Charitable Hospital continues to shine as a living example of service, sacrifice, and the spirit of Swami Vivekanand’s vision.
